Meet the Tamang sisters. Majuli and Sanje Tamang are from a village in West Bengal. They work as casual labour in Delhi. Both the sisters have smart phones, and are digitally literate. With the help of online banking apps such as phone pe, they are able to transfer a part of their salary to their loved ones in West Bengal. The two sisters are very active on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and use WhatsApp to communicate with their family and friends everyday. They are easily able to order their essential items via online shopping from amazon.in and get them delivered to the household they are working in.
Both the sisters are proudly a part of the hersuccessbits community, they have signed up to the website and follow us on our social media handles. They regularly check the website and avail its benefits. Hersuccessbits.com aims to reach out to women from all cross sections of society. It is a proud moment for us to highlight and bring to the fore the presence of women of weaker economic backgrounds in the HSB community who are most in need of the website.
We need more Tamang sisters. We need to bridge the gender disparity in the usage of the internet and increase digital literacy not only by spreading awareness about the usage of social media, but also e banking, e shopping etc which can make their daily chores and activities significantly easier.
We encourage you all to make your household help sign up to the website and follow our social media. We have video based stories which are both in English and Hindi. Our Unheard Voices series (an ongoing series on our youtube channel which has video based stories told by women from financially weaker backgrounds in Hindi) targets women specifically in this situation.
We request you to please share this post on your stories, WhatsApp groups, Linkedin, Facebook twitter anywhere! Maybe, it would reach someone who is in need of being on hersuccessbits.com.
